Mobile Web

Mobile web has been around for quite a while now. For the most part none of us have taken it very seriously. I have tried using smart phones to browse the web and found them clunky and impossible to read and use. I've had several opportunities to use the new iPhone and iPod Touch devices. Using them online still isn't perfect, but they work. Being able to zoom and pan, using your finger to navigate, and having a keyboard that works, makes for device that seems to bring the net with you.
I still wouldn't take it very seriously except for the fact that they are iPods and Apple knows how to sell iPods. In a year there could be millions of these pocket web enabled devices. Truthfully, you're going to want people to be able to whip out there iPod, go to your site, buy your products, say see I told you so when an argument starts up etc...
I could be wrong. Usually on matters of market and people I am, but I get the feeling this trend isn't going to go away. And considering the rave reviews the iPods and IPhones are getting for there user interface (and that's what everybody is excited about really, because edge sucks!)
Apple will probably be leveraging this profile more. And other companies as well. I am probably preaching to the quire here. But I'm really thinking about brushing up on my javascript and DHTML.
